The light on my Deckel D-Bit grinder is broken again. Even though this modern one was a well working solution, I wanted to improve upon this matter. After all, the D-Bit grinder is such an indispensable tool in my workshop. After putting some thought into the problem, I came up with the idea to simply use LED strips in order to come up with more diffuse lighting in contrast to the old point source light that had to be ever moved. Since I don't want to add any exposed wires, I have to route the light supply wires through the machine housing via some tiny connectors out to the grinding wheel guard. For this I try pogo pins in custom machined isolation pieces. The housing needed a deep hole drilled and the wheel guard needed various machining modification work, so that the supply wires and LED lights can be surface flush mounted. For protection, the electronics get covered with epoxy resin and silicone. The intro music is composed and played by my good friend Churu.
