He called 911. He met the ambulance outside.
But the first paramedic to reach Jade Benning just told the jury Blaise Taylor never asked if she would live.
Marisol Baldwin is a Nashville Fire Department paramedic who answered the call on the night of February 25, 2023. That call came in as an allergic reaction. Blaise Taylor, a former Tennessee Titans scout, is on trial in Nashville charged with poisoning his pregnant girlfriend Jade Benning with cocaine. The state says he put cocaine in her drink to be rid of a baby he didn't want. Baldwin is the first witness with medical training to reach Jade, and she is here to tell the jury what she found when she got there.
She found no hives. No swelling. No signs of an allergic reaction. She found Jade lying face down, horizontal across the end of the bed, not how someone sleeps. When they rolled her over, there was a light pink fluid around her mouth. The man on scene was frantic but, in her words, not giving them anything useful. Watch what happens when a young woman arrives outside the ambulance asking over and over if Jade is going to be okay, and watch the detail the state let hang in the air.

WATCH WITH JUSTICE
00:00 to 04:22 - Dispatched as an allergic reaction. Baldwin arrives and finds no allergic signs, no hives, no swelling. The defendant is frantic but offering nothing useful.
04:22 to 07:48 - Jade is face down and horizontal across the end of the bed. When they roll her over: unresponsive, and a light pink fluid at her mouth. Not a typical allergic reaction.
07:48 to 10:28 - A young woman arrives outside, hysterical, looking in the ambulance windows, asking if Jade will be okay. Baldwin testifies Blaise Taylor never cried and never asked if Jade was going to be okay.
10:28 to 13:07 - Full cardiac arrest resuscitation in the ambulance: compressions, airway, IVs, epi. Pulseless the entire transport. Critical to Vanderbilt.
13:54 to 18:43 - Defense cross: Taylor showed them the apartment and helped move Jade toward the stretcher. The defense gets Baldwin to agree those actions are consistent with someone trying to help, and lands the no-CPR-in-the-house point.
