Full Game: 1984 Gold Medal Final | USA vs Spain | Spanish Broadcast/ English Dub (August 10, 1984)

Michael Jordan put on a clinic against Spain at The Forum in Inglewood on August 10, 1984, after his gold medal prep nearly derailed over a rookie blunder. Forty-five minutes before tipoff, assistant coach Don Donoher had to race to the Olympic village in a police cruiser because Jordan accidentally packed his white jersey instead of his blue one—having dumped his uniform to make room for his sneakers. Properly dressed, Jordan shrugged off a toothache slump and went to work. This upload features the rare, full Spanish broadcast (TVE) of the final. While American broadcaster ABC famously cut away from the lopsided blowout to air other Olympic events—drawing on-air frustration from legendary commentator Keith Jackson—this international feed offers the complete, uninterrupted view of Team USA’s clinic from start to finish. The United States cruised to a 96-65 victory over Spain for Olympic gold, led by Jordan’s 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 28 minutes. Jordan ripped through the Spanish defense for 14 first-half points to forge an insurmountable 52-29 lead. Spanish coach Antonio Díaz-Miguel praised Jordan as the tournament's most valuable player, famously tugging his own stretch belt to describe the 21-year-old guard as an elastic "rubber man." Tension still simmered on the bench under Bob Knight. When guard Leon Wood accidentally tipped over a tray of water cups before halftime, Knight stormed over at the buzzer and smashed his fist into his palm. Defensively, the Americans suffocated Spain with their "hombre a hombre" trap, forcing 15 turnovers and holding Spain without a single field goal for 9:12. Knight blasted the absent Soviets in his post-game press conference while 15,067 fans cheered, but Jordan was the real story. Fresh off being selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984 NBA Draft, Jordan had introduced his generational talent and charisma to the world. #MichaelJordan #1984Olympics #USABasketball #TeamUSA #SpanishBroadcast #Baloncesto #ChicagoBulls #BobKnight Timestamp Index: 00:00:00 Broadcast Begins 00:01:42 Starting Lineups 00:03:04 Tip Off 00:04:31 Jordan jumper 00:05:08 Alford jumper 00:07:30 Margall steal and layup 00:08:22 Alford jumper 00:09:14 Jimenez layup 00:09:34 Ewing dunk 00:11:31 Jordan baseline jumper 00:12:21 Knight argues with referee 00:12:49 Russell in attendance 00:13:33 San Epifanio jumper 00:13:48 Jordan acrobatic and-1 00:15:08 Robertson jumper 00:15:36 San Epifanio jumper 00:15:57 Jordan jumper 00:16:15 Jimenez layup 00:16:49 Robertson jumper 00:18:13 Romay putback 00:22:38 Fleming layup plus foul 00:24:58 Tisdale inside basket 00:26:17 Tisdale jumper 00:26:34 Perkins fastbreak dunk 00:27:51 Jordan fastbreak layup 00:33:02 Fleming steal and layup 00:33:38 Jordan fast break dunk 00:36:31 Fleming steal and layup 00:36:48 Perkins and-1 layup 00:37:39 Tisdale putback 00:37:57 Jimenez jumper 00:38:08 2 minutes left in the 1st half 00:38:52 Tisdale putback 00:39:39 Jordan fast break and-1 dunk 00:42:25 Halftime Score 00:43:32 2nd Quarter 00:45:02 Lopez Iturriaga layup 00:45:22 Perkins putback 00:45:34 Martin layup 00:47:28 Perkins layup 00:48:02 Martin slam dunk 00:48:56 Ewing tip-in 00:49:24 Llorente layup 00:49:42 Perkins layup 00:51:34 Martin layup 00:52:50 Tisdale jumper 00:53:14 Jimenez basket 00:53:52 Jordan jumper 00:54:08 Alford fast break layup 00:55:10 Jimenez jumper 00:55:24 Tisdale putback 00:56:04 Perkins layup 00:56:20 Tisdale inside basket 00:57:18 Tisdale turnaround jumper 00:58:22 Jordan jumper 01:01:01 Jordan block 01:01:16 Lopez Iturriaga layup 01:02:30 Corbalan layup 01:03:14 Ewing putback 01:03:40 Fleming layup 01:05:12 Jimenez layup 01:05:43 Fleming layup 01:06:26 Ewing block 01:06:47 Ewing fast break dunk 01:08:18 Lopez Iturriaga layup 01:08:44 Jordan steal 01:09:13 Jordan fast break layup 01:09:38 Jordan block 01:10:52 Solozabal fast break layup 01:11:14 Turner layup 01:14:08 Arcega jumper 01:15:42 Kleine jumper 01:16:24 Kleine turnaround jumper 01:17:34 Fleming fast break layup 01:18:12 Martin fast break layup 01:18:32 2 minutes left in the 2nd 01:19:38 Koncak fast break dunk 01:20:16 Turner jumper 01:21:56 Margall jumper 01:22:20 Final Score 01:24:08 Final Score 01:26:40 USA gold medal presentation 01:27:16 Jordan receives gold medal 01:28:43 Spain silver medal presentation Fair Use Declaration: This video is transformative: historical sports footage restored and enhanced for educational and archival viewing.
