In this tutorial, I'm painting easy, colorful, beginner-friendly loose flowers — the same flower shape painted three times in different color palettes, so you can really see how the technique comes together. I'll show you how alternating pigment-loaded strokes with more diluted, watery strokes creates that soft, delicate, loose-flower look. Materials used: Paper: Hahnemühle watercolor paper Expression, 300gsm cold-press 24x30 cm/9,4x11inch Paints: Winstor&Newton Cotman - Cadmium red deep hue, Cadmium orange hue, Permanent rose, Dioxazine purple Daniel Smith - Permanent yellow Brushes: daVinci Casaneo 490, 0 daVinci Colineo 1222, 0 Other Supplies: water jar, paper towel This is a great, relaxing project if you're new to loose watercolor painting and want to build confidence with brush control and color mixing.
