A~S ARTWALKS 002 ~ Yung Lean ~ Collected Works 2016–2026 ~ Stockholm

We walked through Collected Works 2016–2026, the first major exhibition of visual art by Jonatan Leandoer Håstad, known worldwide as Yung Lean. The exhibition was held in the old Gasworks building at Norra Bangården, Torsgatan 22, in Stockholm. It brought together ten years of work, most of it never shown publicly before: oil paintings, drawings, collages, ceramics, sculptures, dioramas and site-specific installations. The show was laid out as a salon, a TV room and a screening room. The screening room premiered his new short film Slåtter, which he stars in and executive produced. Håstad is self-taught and has made paintings, drawings and wooden sculptures since he was a child. He chose the works, designed the exhibition and oversaw the installation himself, with no gallery behind him. The work drew on Swedish folklore and nature mythology, in a dreamlike style that sat close to his music. Ps.
