Premonition — Track 06
This s a chapter that still shakes me to my core. It’s about my personal account of my experience that beautiful day in Sept and tribute to the city of New York, the beautiful souls we lost, and the terrifyingly thin line between destiny and tragedy.

🎼 Lyrics:
Rushing down to grab the morning train,
A heavy routine that I used to disdain.
Fighting with myself on that platform track,
Wishing on that beautiful morning I could just turn back.
Not a single cloud, just a canvas deep and wide,
A big, beautiful blue that I wanted to keep inside.
I sat at my desk as the radio played,
In front of the window where the morning was made.
Arranged in the glass like a photo on display,
The Twin Towers stood there, as clear as the day.
Rising up proud till the music went dead,
And a small plane accident filled us with dread.
Then I turned my head and the photo cracked in two,
Thick black plumes cutting straight through the blue.
A frantic voice screaming, "Oh God," in the room,
As the second plane struck, and the world came undone.
We stood there in silence, unsure what to do,
Unable to process what time couldn’t erase.
When the first tower fell, I knew it was time,
To escape the illusion and walk the hard line.
By the grace of God, I caught the last train out,
Through city streets silent, filled with shadow and doubt.
A sea of voiceless ghosts clad in suits and in ash,
Numb from the horror of the world-changing crash.
And walking those blocks, the heavy truth hit my chest,
Of a North Tower job that I almost possessed.
Just one year ago, I put my two-week notice in,
A strange, warning feeling told me not to begin.
Happenstance and a whisper kept me safe on that day,
While a thousand beautiful souls turned into ghosts.
I made it home safe on the day the world changed,
New York was re-written, everything rearranged.
Call it a premonition, or a message from above,
But I look back at the choice that saved my life.
Underneath that big, beautiful blue sky...
I am still asking why.
