Bellissimo Ticino EN : The Verzasca Valley, in the heart of Ticino, is one of Switzerland’s most untouched and authentic alpine valleys. Stretching for 25 kilometers, it follows the course of the emerald‑green Verzasca River, whose crystal waters have carved smooth granite pools over thousands of years. Stone villages such as Lavertezzo and Sonogno preserve the memory of a time when the valley lived in isolation, shaped by mountain farming, transhumance, and centuries‑old traditions. The iconic Ponte dei Salti, a double‑arched Roman bridge, stands above the river’s natural basins and has become one of the most photographed spots in the region. Further south, the impressive Verzasca Dam, rising 220 meters above the Lago di Vogorno, marks the entrance to the valley. At the opposite end, Sonogno retains its rustic charm with its valley museum and the nearby Cascata della Froda waterfall. The Verzasca Valley combines multiple climate zones: Mediterranean near Lake Maggiore and alpine in the upper reaches, creating a rich mix of vegetation from chestnut forests to high‑mountain meadows. A blend of pristine nature, historic villages, and living traditions, the Verzasca Valley is a true Ticino treasure where every stone tells a story.
