This Signal Began Before Earth Existed — Then It Reached Us

Before Earth existed, a distant galaxy released a burst of radio waves. More than ten billion years later, that signal reached our planet—and lasted just milliseconds. This is the story of FRB 20240304B: an ancient signal, a host galaxy hidden from ground-based telescopes, and the evidence astronomers used to reconstruct its extraordinary journey. What produced it? What did it encounter along the way? And how can a fleeting radio burst reveal structures we cannot easily see? Deep Time Files explores lost worlds, vanished landscapes, and the scientific clues that bring the distant past back into view. This documentary takes that journey further back—to an era before our own world existed. Subscribe for more documentaries about Earth's forgotten past and the discoveries that reveal it.
