The enemy’s tactics have not changed. From the Garden of Eden to the wilderness where Jesus was tempted, we see the same strategies being used to challenge God’s Word, plant seeds of doubt, and lead people away from the truth.
In Genesis 3, we see how the enemy:
• Disguises himself in what is familiar to gain our attention and make deception appear harmless.
• Uses suggestions to plant seeds of doubt, drawing us into thoughts and conversations that challenge what God has already spoken.
• Questions the truth of God’s Word, attempting to make us doubt His instructions, His character, and His promises.
• Twists Scripture and uses God’s language deceptively, presenting lies in a way that sounds like truth to lead us into disobedience.
• Deceives us into believing the lie, causing us to act outside of God’s will and potentially influence others to follow the same deception. What begins with one person believing a lie can affect generations if the truth is never restored.
But God has not left us without truth, wisdom, or direction. Through the Holy Spirit, we are reminded of what Jesus has taught us (John 14:26). And Jesus tells us that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (John 14:15).
⚔️ THE SAME TACTICS. THE SAME DECEPTION. BUT THE WORD OF GOD STILL STANDS.
In Matthew 4:3–11, Satan attempts to tempt Jesus by challenging Him and misusing Scripture. But Jesus responds with the Word of God. He does not surrender to the temptation or compromise the truth. He stands firm in what is written.
This is why we must study the Word, know the voice of our Shepherd, test what we hear against Scripture, and put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18). We cannot afford to be unfamiliar with the very truth that protects us from deception.
Do not accept every thought as truth. Do not believe every voice simply because it sounds spiritual. Do not allow familiarity to replace discernment. Return to the Word of God, stand firm in His truth, and remain obedient to Him.
The enemy may disguise the lie, but the truth of God exposes the deception.
📌 Scriptures for study:
Genesis 3 — The deception in the Garden
Matthew 4:3–11 — Jesus resists the temptation of Satan
John 14:15 — Love expressed through obedience
John 14:26 — The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us
Ephesians 6:10–18 — Put on the whole armor of God
🙏🏽 Reflection: Am I testing what I hear against the Word of God, or am I allowing what sounds good to become what I believe?
