What if not reaching a goal doesn't mean you failed?
Sometimes the problem isn't motivation or discipline. Sometimes the goal no longer fits your life—or the cost of achieving it isn't something you're willing or able to pay right now.
In Episode 29 of Shockingly Simple, Kelly and Nik take a different approach to goal setting. Instead of simply asking, “How badly do you want it?” we look at what the goal actually requires: your time, energy, priorities, habits, relationships, and the things you may have to give up along the way.
Once you understand that cost, you have four choices:
Commit to the goal.
Modify the goal, timeline, or approach.
Postpone it because this isn't the right season.
Or release it altogether.
None of those decisions is inherently a failure.
We talk about opportunity cost, changing priorities, unrealistic expectations, and why sometimes the healthiest decision is giving yourself permission to change your mind.
Because the process is where the goal actually lives. And before you commit to the outcome, you need to decide whether you're willing to live the process required to get there.
