DIY Ghibli Laundry Area Makeover 🧺 | Cleaning, Organizing & Cooking at Home 🏡 I finally gave our laundry area a little makeover and built a simple washing machine house from scratch. I am not a carpenter or a DIY expert. I just enjoy making things for our home, so I decided to give this project a try and learn along the way. It didn’t always go exactly as planned but I had fun figuring things out as I went. 🤭 I also wanted to share the process as it really happened, including my mistakes along the way. Hopefully, it gives you the confidence to try something yourself even if you are still learning. ♡ 🪚 Materials I used 🏷️ Plywood 🏷️ Solid pinewood tabletop 🏷️ Adjustable legs 🏷️ L brackets 🏷️ Wood screws 🏷️ Threaded inserts 🏷️ Wood glue 🏷️ Wood filler 🏷️ Wood stain 🏷️ Floral wallpaper 🏷️ Adhesive 🏷️ Scalloped pieces Some of the smaller materials and tools were already available at home, so I didn’t include them in the total. 💰 How much did it cost? I spent ₱5,023 on the main materials I purchased for this project. This includes the plywood, pinewood tabletop, adjustable legs, scalloped pieces, L brackets and wood screws. I only used 4 of the 24 scalloped pieces I bought, so I still have plenty left for future DIY projects. The total would naturally be different depending on what you already have at home and the materials you choose. 🌱 A few things to consider If you are planning to make something similar, I would recommend leaving enough space around the washing machine for ventilation and easy access. Make sure the structure is sturdy enough to handle the weight and movement of the machine, keep it level with adjustable feet and secure it properly if needed. For a laundry area, it is also worth considering moisture and choosing your wood, finish amd other materials accordingly. DIY or have it made? For me, DIY was worth it because I already had some of the tools and materials at home and I genuinely enjoy making things myself. But having one professionally made can also be more practical if you do not have the tools, time or confidence to build it yourself. So I would not say that DIY is always cheaper. It really depends on what you already have and how much of the work you can do yourself. I hope this vlog inspires you to create something for your own little corner at home even if you are still learning. 🙏🏻 I also spent some time cleaning and organizing the space, then made a few simple homemade meals with whatever I had at home. 🌱🏡 Please turn on CC if you’d like to read the subtitles. ♡ Thank you for spending your precious time with me. 🌷
