About Above The Law The West Coast hip-hop group from Pomona, California, Above the Law, formed in 1989 to create one of the most era-defining groups in rap music. Members included Cold 187um, KMG the Illustrator, Go Mack, and DJ Total K-Oss. In the early days of their career, they became closely associated with N.W.A. and the rise of gangsta rap. An early signing to Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records, they helped pioneer the G-funk sound before it became mainstream.
