Saxenda pen mistakes can lead to confusion, medicine leaking from the injection site, or an incomplete dose. This video explains the correct flow check, injection-site rotation, six-second hold, needle removal, and storage routine for the U.S. Saxenda pen.
You will learn which small steps are easy to miss, when to check the pen flow, how to keep the pen steady during the injection, and what to discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if you think the full dose was not delivered.

Check the pen flow before the first injection with each new Saxenda pen. You do not need to repeat the flow check before every injection unless instructed to do so because the pen may not be working correctly.
Inject Saxenda under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate the injection site within the area you choose, and do not inject Saxenda into a vein or muscle.
Press and hold the dose button until the dose counter returns to 0. Continue holding the dose button while keeping the needle in your skin and count slowly to six before removing it.
Use a new needle for every injection. Remove the needle after use, dispose of it in an FDA-cleared sharps disposal container, replace the pen cap, and store the Saxenda pen without a needle attached.
New, unused Saxenda pens should be refrigerated at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). After first use, the pen may be refrigerated or stored at 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C) for up to 30 days. Do not freeze Saxenda.
