Raihan Vadra Row: Can Art & Politics Be Separated? | Priyanka Gandhi | News9 A major debate has unfolded over the removal and alleged censorship of photographs at an art exhibition hosted at Delhi's Bikaner House. The controversy erupted after artworks documenting youth protests, captured by artist Raihan Vadra, were ordered to be taken down by the management just hours before the show was scheduled to open. During a televised discussion, panellists questioned whether politics can ever be separated from artistic expression, citing historical precedents of political artworks displayed at public cultural venues. Critics raised serious objections against the Rajasthan government-run administration for stifling dissenting voices and freedom of speech, questioning why state institutions permit certain government programmes like the celebration of the hundredth episode of Mann Ki Baat while disallowing protest imagery. Conversely, a ruling party representative maintained that public institutions operate under strict guidelines barring political material from their premises, suggesting that artists seeking to display politically sensitive themes should book private venues. The discussion also addressed whether the action amounted to political targeting due to the artist's family background or represented an enforcement of standard public property regulations. #BikanerHouse #RehanVadra #ArtCensorship #FreedomOfExpression #PoliticalArt #DelhiNews #PriyankaGandhiVadra #MannKiBaat #ArtAndPolitics #YouthProtest #RajasthanGovernment #IndianPolitics #Debate #News9Live #BreakingNews ..............................................................................................
