India_Sohrai: Murals of Memory

This documentary explores the Sohrai murals of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand — a living tradition believed to echo the spirit and symbolism of ancient rock art in the region. It traces the art’s dual contexts — Sohrai (harvest) and Kohvar (marriage) — and showcases the distinctive styles practiced by different tribal communities. Highlighting the use of natural pigments and unique techniques such as comb-cutting, the film celebrates a powerful continuum of creativity, ecology, and cultural memory. #unesco #india #sohrai
