The year starts fading, the mornings get colder, and the days become shorter. The leaves turn gold, then let go and disappear into the wind. There’s something painfully beautiful about that. Autumn never tries to hold onto what is already leaving. It just accepts that some things have to end. People change too. Some slowly drift away, some become strangers, and some only stay in your memories. The person you were a year ago can disappear the same way. Not all at once, but little by little, until you look back and realize you don’t even recognize yourself anymore. We spend so much time trying to keep old moments alive, even when they already belong to another version of us. But maybe endings are not always something to fear. Maybe they are the only way life makes room for something new. The trees lose their leaves and still remain standing. Quietly waiting for another season. Maybe we should learn to do the same. Let go of what is already gone. Keep the memories, but don’t ask them to come back. Nothing stays forever. Not the warmth, not the people, not even us. And maybe that’s why autumn feels so real.
