Scientists Just Found Out What’s Hunting Nevada’s Wild Foals — And Why the Herd Still Grows

America's wild horses are hunted by predators and rounded up by helicopter. And the number on the range is climbing again. This video follows the question most wild horse videos skip: what actually stops a herd from growing, and who pays for it? We look at a two-year study in southeastern Nevada, where researchers tracked what was killing wild horses and asked how much it slowed the herd. We look at the older study at Montgomery Pass that made people believe predators could do the job. We go through the federal numbers: how many animals are on the range, how many the agency says the land can carry, how many live in holding pens, and what that costs. And we look at a thirteen-year fertility control program on Assateague Island that lowered a herd without removing a single horse. Nothing here is a simple answer. Several of the figures are estimates or model results, and the video says so where it matters.
