തനുവിൽ കുളിരിറങ്ങുന്ന ധനുമാസത്തിലെ നനുത്ത പ്രഭാതത്തിലെ തുടിച്ചുകുളിയും നോയമ്പും നാമജപവും തിരുവാതിരക്കളിയും പിന്നെ രാത്രിഉറക്കമൊഴിച്ച് എല്ലാവരുമൊത്തുള്ള സല്ലാപവും എട്ടങ്ങാടി നിവേദ്യവും പാതിരാപ്പൂ ചൂടലും അങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞാൽ തീരാത്ത വിശേഷങ്ങൾ ! ഉറക്കമൊഴിച്ചതു കൊണ്ടാകാം, തറവാട്ടുമുറ്റത്ത് ഞങ്ങളുടെ തിരുവാതിരക്കളി കണ്ട് അതിനെ കവച്ചുവയ്ക്കാനെന്നവണ്ണം ആകാശത്ത് നക്ഷത്രമങ്കമാരും തിരുവാതിര കളിക്കുന്നപോലെ തോന്നിയതിൽ ഒട്ടും അതിശയോക്തി തോന്നുന്നില്ല 😀. മലയാളത്തിൻ്റെ മടിയിൽ തലചായ്ച്ചുകിടക്കുമ്പോൾ കേട്ടുശീലിച്ച തിരുവാതിരപ്പാട്ടുകൾ പ്രൗഢിയോടെ മനസ്സിൽ മുഴങ്ങുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. നിലവിളക്കിൻ്റെ പ്രഭയും കത്തുന്ന എണ്ണയുടെ ഗന്ധവും തണുത്ത കാറ്റും പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ ഐശ്വര്യപൂരിതമായി നില്ക്കുന്ന തറവാടും എല്ലാം കൂടി ഭക്തി, പൈതൃക മയം. പരമശിവനെ വരനായി ലഭിക്കാൻ ശ്രീപാർവതി കഠിന തപസ്സും വ്രതങ്ങളും അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. തിരുവാതിര നാൾ ഭഗവാൻ ശിവൻ്റെ പിറന്നാളായും കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ആയതിനാൽ അന്നേ ദിവസം ശ്രീപാർവ്വതി ചെയ്ത കഠിന തപസ്സുകളേയും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളെയും സമരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് മംഗല്യസ്ത്രീകളും പെൺകിടാങ്ങളും വ്രതാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളോടു കൂടി ഈ ദിവസം തിരുവാതിര ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കന്യകമാർക്ക് നല്ല വരനെ ലഭിക്കാനും സുമംഗലികൾ പതിയുടെ ആയുരാരോഗ്യ സൗഖ്യത്തിനും ദാമ്പത്യം നിലനിർത്തുന്നനിനും വേണ്ടി തിരുവാതിരവ്രതമെടുക്കുന്നു. മുൻപൊക്കെ ഏഴുദിവസമായിരുന്നു ആഘോഷം. മുതിർന്ന സ്ത്രീകളാണ് ആഘോഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ചുക്കാൻ പിടിക്കുന്നത്. കേട്ടുകേൾവികളും പഴമക്കാരിൽ നിന്നു ലഭ്യമായ വിവരങ്ങളും പിന്നെ പുസ്തകത്താളുകളിൽ ആലേഖനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട അറിവുകളും താരതമ്യം ചെയ്താൽ ആഘോഷങ്ങളുടെ രീതികളിൽ വിവിധ ദേശങ്ങളിൽ ചെറിയ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായേക്കാം. സമയപരിമിധിമൂലം ചടങ്ങുകളുടെ രത്നച്ചുരുക്കം ഇവിടെ ദൃശ്യാവിഷ്ക്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. Thiruvathira day is also considered the birthday of Lord Shiva. Therefore, married women and girls celebrate Thiruvathira on this day with fasting and rituals, reflecting the severe penances and rituals performed by Goddess Parvati on that day. The Thiruvathira fast is observed for the sake of getting a good groom for the maidens, for the sake of the health and well-being of the husband and for the preservation of the marriage. Previously, the celebration lasted seven days.The celebrations are led by older women. If we compare hearsay, information available from ancient people, and knowledge inscribed on the pages of books, we may find slight variations in the methods of celebrations in different locations. Through my videos, my intention is to recreate old lifestyle and cooking techniques and visualize those memories to the new generation when ever I am at my home town. I also would like to picturize current food cooking styles in possible traditional way when ever I stay in city. I always like to explore more on traditional cooking within and outside Kerala too. I personally like to prepare the foods by my self and enjoy to serve it to family.
