What Paint Primer To Use Over Distemper Surfaces Including Powdery Chalky Surfaces

I came across this problem when stripping wallpaper in an old property. Distemper paint is a traditional, water-based paint made with ingredients like chalk, lime, and water, often with a glue-based binder. you cannot put a waterbased paint ontop as it will throw it straight off. what was used to kill it off years ago was a clear penetrative oil sealer. But nowadays you can use Zinsser Cover Stain. It's an amazing all round product that can be used to prime surfaces holding back the distemper. It dries in 30 minutes and you can paint waterbased paints ontop of it. It's available in Decorating stores and Screwfix etc. Fantastic time saving product that does the job.
