MR2 Championship 2026 Round 7 - Cadwell Park - Car 10, Andy Baranowski

A welcome return to Cadwell Park for the fourth round of the 2026 MR2 Championship! Thankfully it was a dry, warm day and conditions were absolutely ideal. I bought a Racebox lap timer before Snetterton, but this was the first time i got to use it to pace myself in qualifying. This combined with a welcome return to pace and reliability landed me in 5th on the grid - decently close on pace to the front group. Unfortunately I once again smoked the start losing one place to Darren Aldworth's Mk2 and almost a second to Scott Edbrooke, who had also spun the wheels hard at launch. I managed to utilise the Mk3's ABS brakes down into Mansfield to put a strong pass on Aldworth, then it was head down - try to catch the lead group! A few opportunities came and went, I ensured I was there to pick up any pieces should the leaders tangle. But I lacked pace out of the final corner which cost me lap after lap, and prevented me making any progress forward. Overall I was very happy to be batting with the top group and just missed out on a class trophy, 5th overall but 4th in class, qualifying 4th on pace for Race 2 later in the day.
