Inspection of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project Phase IV 8/11/2025

Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina City August 11, 2025 Demonstrating the Administration’s resolute commitment to protecting communities from flood hazards, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inspection of the Pasig–Marikina River Channel Improvement Project (PMRCIP) Phase IV at the Marikina Bridge Under Loop in Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina City on 11 August 2025. Led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), this project aims to reduce further flooding caused by the overflow of the Pasig and Marikina Rivers. Phase IV involves both structural and non-structural measures to reduce flood damage in Metro Manila and surrounding areas, supporting urban development and encouraging a sustainable environment along the river. Its scope of work includes constructing dikes and revetments, installing floodgates and dredging channels — improving the flood management infrastructure of the National Capital Region (NCR). The PMRCIP Phase IV – Contract Package 3 is a major infrastructure project in the country, funded through agreements with Japan.
