Inauguration of the Tugbong Solar Pump Irrigation Project 10/23/2026

Barangay Tugbong, Kananga, Leyte October 23, 2026 Reaffirming his Administration’s steadfast commitment to improving agricultural productivity and providing farmers with a sustainable water source, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inauguration of the Tugbong Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) in Barangay Tugbong, Kananga, Leyte on October 23, 2026. Funded by the National Irrigation Administration’s (NIA) Establishment of Pump Irrigation Project (EPIP), the Tugbong SPIP harnesses renewable solar energy to pump water to 115 hectares of farmland, reducing farmers’ dependence on conventional energy sources. With reliable irrigation in place, farmers are expected to maintain crop yields during periods of insufficient rainfall, mitigating the potential impact of Super El Niño.
