Film 88 October 17 Big Film Review Top Ten Barry Norman Part Recording Broadcast 10.55 PM Monday 17 October 1988 BBC1 Barry Norman presents his personal review of the week's cinema releases. Big - the most successful of the current crop of role-reversal films, has a 13-year-old schoolboy whose desire to be big is granted by a fairground wishing machine which transforms him into a 35-year-old Tom Hanks. The Fruit Machine - Frank Clarke, who was responsible for Letter to Brezhnev, uses Liverpool again as the setting for his story of two homosexual teenagers on the run from home. They inadvertently witness a murder, and a story of runaways becomes a thriller as they escape and try to hide from the killer. Director ALEXANDRA BEAZLEY Producer JANE LUSH
