01 BlenderBIM, IFC, and the importance of Open BIM with Dion Moult

👇Links to communities below. In this first episode of UH Studio Academy Podcasts, I talk with Dion Moult, creator of BlenderBIM. We discuss how design tools plug into the large picture of AEC, and the essential need for open formats such as IFC for the project's design, construction, and facility managment lifecycle. Make sure you check out part 2 for a hands-on Dion Moult is trained as an architect in Sydney, Australia and works as an Emerging Design Engineer Manager at Lendlease with exposure to the whole design and construction process. Lendlease is one of the largest construction, developer, and investor companies. BlenderBIM is part of IFC OpenShell and handles IFC data natively within Blender. It is coded in such a way that most of the code can be incorporated into other potential apps. BlenderBIM can be used to analyse, edit, and produce IFC models.
