This theory is very important for your upcoming CSIR NET/JRF GATE and IIT-JAM chemistry exams so do watch the complete lecture and let me know in the comment section that how do you like the video? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to RJ Academy where we are targeting CSIR NET/JRF (CHEMICAL SCIENCE), GATE, IIT-JAM, and other entrance exams related to chemistry. This is an open courseware program where anyone can watch the complete lecture series for free. Your support is highly appreciated. If you want to support us, you can contribute your contribution so that RJ Academy will continue to provide high-quality educational resources for free. This course is designed in such a manner that every student will be able to understand the basic concepts of statistical thermodynamics and will cover the entire syllabus of the CSIR-NET/JRF and GATE exam. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the introductory lecture of the course, we got to know about the basic things regarding statistical thermodynamics like: 1) Why do we need statistical thermodynamics? 2) What are the limitations of classical thermodynamics? 3) How statistical thermodynamics connects Quantum chemistry and Thermodynamics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Statistical thermodynamics is that branch of chemistry that helps in determining thermodynamic entities like P. V, S, T, H, G, A, U, Cp, Cv, q using the quantum mechanic's model. In quantum chemistry, all we learn is about discrete energy levels. In statistical thermodynamics, we use these discrete energy levels to determine all the thermodynamics entities. It's quite interesting to know that how Boltzmann connects quantum chemistry and thermodynamics. We already discussed the general introduction of the Ensemble hypothesis that how Gibbs used the Ensemble hypothesis to calculate thermodynamic entities. An ensemble can be classified into three categories: 1) Micro-canonical 2) Canonical 3) Grand- canonical We also discussed the partition function and some features of the partition function. And then we learned some formulas that help us in determining various thermodynamic entities from partition relations. We discussed the relation between: U and partition function Cp and partition function Cv and partition function H and partition function A and partition function P and partition function G and partition function ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #CSIRNET #GATE #IITJAM #IITJEE #JEEAdvanced #NEET #TIFR #DU | #BHU M.Sc. entrance #JNCASR #IISER #DailyFreeLiveClasses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for watching the lecture.
