Correction: In the video I mistakenly called the motor a 2612, actually it's a 2212. Sorry for the confusion. I can't blame Richie for that one... The Carl Goldberg Models ELECTRA was one of the first electric r/c planes on the market. It came with a 540 brushed can motor (i.e. r/c dune buggy motor) and a heavy-duty toggle switch to turn it on and off via a servo on the throttle channel! Motor was powered by 1200ma NiCd 6 or 7 cell pack, and the radio and servos needed an additional 4 cell 600ma NiCd pack. Needless to say it was a lead sled in its original configuration! I resurrected this model from the inactive fleet, stripped out the old heavy gear and installed a brushless motor and speed controller from Banggood for an outlay of right around ten bucks! It's a LOT lighter now and the performance is vastly improved! Here's a link if you want to check out this sweet little budget-friendly power combo: 2212 Brushless Motor w/prop adapter and mount: https://www.banggood.com/Racerstar-BR... 30A ESC; https://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-XX...
