Avatar vs Ascent at 500mW A simple, repeatable real-world RF comparison between Avatar 1S at 500mW + Avatar Goggles Lite and Ascent Lite+ at 500mW + Ascent Goggles. We walked the same route 4–5 times with each system, with the goggles kept stationary at the start. Both systems consistently lost video at roughly the same point, suggesting very similar practical RF performance in this test. I used goggles rather than VRXs because they were quicker to set up and, importantly, represent the cheapest complete route into each system for someone starting from scratch. If you already own analogue goggles, a VRX may be the cheaper option. This isn't a laboratory comparison or a claim that the RF hardware is technically identical — results will vary with antennas, terrain, interference and receiver setup. The interesting part: the Ascent Lite+ costs around 63% less than the Avatar 1S, while delivering very similar real-world 500mW performance in this test.
