In this video, the Trigonometric Fourier Series is explained and it is shown that using the Fourier Series, how any periodic signal can be expressed by the linear combination of the sine and cosine waves.
By watching this video, you will learn the following topics:
0:00 Introduction to Fourier Series
2:20 Trigonometric Fourier Series
4:31 Concept of Orthogonality using Vector Analogy
12:52 Signal Representation using the Orthogonal signals
Fourier Series :
Using the Fourier series representation, any periodic signal can be represented by the linear combination of sine and cosine waves.
If the periodic signal is continuous in time, then it is represented using the Continuous-time Fourier Series. (CTFS)
If the Periodic signal is Discrete-time signal, then it is represented using the Discrete-time Fourier Series. (DTFS)
In this video, the Continuous-time Fourier Series is discussed.
Based on the representation, mainly there are two types of Fourier Series:
1) Trigonometric Fourier Series:
The periodic signal is represented as the linear combination of sine and cosine waves which are harmonically related to each other.
2) Exponential Fourier Series:
The Periodic signal is represented as the linear combination of the complex exponentials.
In this video, the Trigonometric Fourier Series is explained and the concept of Orthogonality is explained using the vector analogy.
If the set of Orthogonal signals is complete, then any periodic signal can be represented as the linear combination of the orthogonal signals.
This video will be helpful to everyone in understanding the Fourier Series and the concept of Orthogonality for the signals.
