Will The Circle Be Unbroken (go to 4:30) was the closing Carter Family number of the evening. Ronnie Williams begins by relating the story of an unexpected performance of this song by Mabelle and her girls one rainy night past 2 AM on the way back to Richmond, sometime in the 1940's. Ronnie Williams and the Carter Family Sound * *Greg Cornett- guitar and vocals *Vickie Austin- upright bass and vocals Longtime Carter Family friend and musician Ronnie Williams along with local musicians Greg Cornett and Vickie Austin made a May 3rd stop in Kingsport at the Pickin’ Porch Stage Two, hosted by Rick Dollar, in The Mountain Music Museum at 316 Broad Street. This two hour concert of Carter Family standards proceeded Friday and Saturday night appearances at the Carter Fold, opening the evening performances. Lorrie Carter Bennett, granddaughter of country music matriarch Maybelle Carter and daughter of Anita Carter, was also to appear but was unable to make the date due to illness. The Pickin’ Porch and it's the sponsoring agency, the Appalachian Cultural Music Association, has recently moved to a new home in Kingsport, Tennessee. The new Mountain Museum and Pickin' Porch Stage 2 (seating now 80+) is at 316 Broad Street in downtown Kingsport TN. Pickin' Porch Stage 1 Theater (seating 261) has planned 18 events in 2018 and 2019 and has a revised location to be held in the Theater (Room 137) of the Kingsport Center For Higher Education on West Market Street. This facility occupies half a block and is about two blocks west of the Broad and Market Street intersection from where the outdoor stage for "Blue Grass On Broad" has always been located. This theater is also about three blocks from the ACMA Mountain Music Museum at 316 Broad street. Pickin' Porch Stage 2 in the Museum will be used for the traditional weekly shows featuring mostly local and emerging artists, and the Stage 1 Theater at the Kingsport Center For Higher Education will be used for special monthly concerts by touring bands with a modest gate charge.
