Not the Legendary Engine, but many can support Joey!
-------------------------
Welcome back for another CDP, and this time we're throwing a ton of different engines into one build to shine a spotlight the untapped potential of Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Before I get too far, if you're looking for a chance-to-be-competitive OG Dragon Deck, I will point you in the direction of Blue-Eyes, but Red-Eyes sure can scratch a good casual itch for the time being. Alright, so the Red-Eyes strategy is best centered around Black Metal Dragon, a Level 1 DARK Dragon that tutors a Red-Eyes card each time it is sent from the field to the GY. This gets you access to Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to kick off most combos as an initial extender, but also can access the first engine I'll spotlight today - the Metalmorph cards!
Engine 1: Metalmorph - Led by Max Metalmorph, Red-Eyes Black Fullmetal Dragon, and Red-Eyes Metal Claws Dragon, this engine gives your endboard a boost by adding either an omni-negate or constant burn damage from Metalflame Swordsman. It also combines well with Hieratic Seal of Heavenly Spheres and Red-Eyes Soul, as both can summon Metal Claws during the opponent's turn to get additional Metalmorph Traps into the fray.
Engine 2: Primite - With the consistency of Primite Dragon Ether Beryl and Primite Lordly Lode, this small engine offers one of the best Fusion engines to the Red-Eyes theme, letting them Fusion Summon any Dragon Fusion via Primite Fusion as long as you use a Normal Monster, such as Red-Eyes itself. If you happen to have access to an extra Dragon extender, this engine also bridges well into the Rokket engine, since you can also leverage Primite Fusion to make Borreload Fatalflare Dragon to tutor a Rokket monster!
Engine 3: Rokket - With Quick Launch to get you even more monsters, this engine is all about making you go faster, while also giving you unexpected access back to your Level 7 DARK Dragon Red-Eyes support cards, through the use of Rokket Loader. In a pinch, you can even leverage it to access your Black Metal Dragon by sending it to the GY via Rokket Barrage, then this engine also gives you some additional Fusion access as well via the effect of Double Interlock.
Engine 4: Dark Time Wizard - Featuring the new wave out of Beyond the Brave, the Dark Time Wizard engine gives you the ability to destroy entire boards, with Dark Time Wizard, steal a monster or S/T from either GY with Foolish Graverobber, or just add disruption to your endboard with Graceful Skull Dice.
Engine 5: Gagaga - Despite being just one card out of LOCH, Gagaga Girl - Cell Phone Subtraction could be a key contributor to the Red-Eyes strategy of old, allowing you to summon itself and Xyz Summon during the opponent's turn when they summon from the Extra Deck. In particular, this works extremely well to get out Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon, a R7NK Xyz that will start burning the opponent for every effect they activate!
Engine 6: Malefic - Last but not least, the Malefic engine featuring their new LOCR support cards gives your deck a much-needed power boost, in addition to even more plays during the opponent's turn. With Malefic Paradigm Shift to end OTK aggression and Malefic Force to destroy all monsters on the field, your opponent will have their hands full ending a duel before you're ready to make them fight til your last breath.
While this isn't a standard CDP approach by any means, hope you enjoyed this engine-heavy take, and hopefully it inspires you to try out Red-Eyes yourself with one or more of these cool pairings!
