This season, I had the honor of guiding my client to the summit of Gasherbrum I (G1) — without using supplemental oxygen. It was my very first experience leading a climber on an 8,000-meter peak, and as you can imagine, it was extremely challenging. But through determination, teamwork, and strong willpower, we made it to the top successfully. From my personal experience this year, I can confidently say that the best time to attempt G1 is in June, when the weather conditions and overall environment are most favorable for a safe and successful climb. Every step on G1 tested both my strength and my skills as a guide, but reaching the summit without O2 while supporting my client has been one of the most rewarding achievements of my mountaineering journey.
