The Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 07SEPT2026 (Labor Day)

Today's California Zephyr #5 arrived in Fort Morgan at 0554 MDT (7 min. tardy). The power for this 9-car train was from P42s #15 & #148. They brought the consist to a stop with car 8 to the west station platform for service to 3 detraining travelers and the 1 new patron boarded for a ride west. I was summoned by my friend Ken at the sightseer/lounge car for a fresh cup of coffee and a quick chat. Also joining me on the platform today was another rail enthusiast from the local area whose son was on board in a sleeper headed to Salt Lake City on railroad business. Allie was able to take care of her passengers without my direct supervision. LOL!! With the station work safely completed, the departure order was given and on a clear signal the Zephyr continued its westward run with the next stop being Union Station in Denver. There were 4 Phase VII cars in today's train, the baggage car, sleeper "Sleeping Bear Dunes", sleeper "Hell's Canyon", and the standard coach. My thanks to the operating crew for the greetings.
