God Can Handle Your Pain | It's Fine, I'm Fine, Everything's Fine | Wk. 5 | Aug. 30th, 2026

What do you do when life hurts and you don’t understand why God allowed it? Sometimes we don’t need another inspirational quote. We don’t need someone to tell us, “Everything happens for a reason,” or “Just have more faith.” Sometimes we simply need permission to say: “Lord, this hurts.” “Lord, I don’t understand.” “Lord, I’m tired.” “Lord, where are You?” “Lord, how long will this last?” In Lamentations 5, we see God’s people crying out in the middle of unimaginable pain. Jerusalem has been destroyed. The temple is gone. Families have been devastated. People are experiencing grief, loss, hunger, oppression, and exile. And yet, they pray. This chapter teaches us something powerful about how to cry out to God when life falls apart. We can cry out honestly, specifically, humbly, and with hope. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay before you come to God. You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to hide your pain, your questions, your disappointment, or even your sin. God can handle your honest cries. And the hope of Lamentations 5 is this: even when our circumstances change, God’s throne hasn’t moved. “ You, Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation.” — Lamentations 5:19 Maybe today you don’t need God to explain everything. Maybe you simply need to remember that He is still God, He still reigns, and He is still with you in the middle of the pain. Don’t run from God because you’re hurting. Run to Him because you’re hurting. Bring Him your pain. Bring Him your questions. Bring Him your sin. Bring Him your disappointment. And when you have nothing left to say, pray: “Lord, restore me to Yourself.” Jesus shows us that God doesn’t stand far away from our suffering. He entered into it. Christ suffered, went to the cross, died, and rose again so that even in our darkest moments, we can know that we are not alone.
