I’ve driven past this place more times than I can count — and I never knew what was hiding back here.
Today on Fred Finds Out, we explore White Church Cemetery, also known as Brookside Cemetery, in Brunswick, New York. What looked like a small cemetery from the road turned into a fascinating walk through local history, with beautiful old gravestones, burials dating back to the 1700s and 1800s, and even veterans of the American Revolutionary War.
Along the way, we’ll look at weathered and restored headstones, explore the older and newer sections of the cemetery, discover the brook that likely gave Brookside Cemetery its name, and find one Revolutionary War veteran whose grave is still proudly marked.
This is exactly why I love exploring places like this. Sometimes an incredible piece of history can be sitting right beside a road you’ve traveled for years — you just have to stop and find out what’s there.
