Making up Ground in Economic Development | Lynn Spencer

Welcome to the DSE Podcast! This podcast features conversations with Austin's business leaders, civic builders, and operators shaping the future of Central Texas. Each episode goes deep on the people, decisions, and lessons behind the city's growth. In this episode, Lynn Spencer, Economic Development Director of the Waller Economic Development Corporation, breaks down what growth looks like in a city with a four to six square mile footprint on the 290 corridor between Houston and College Station: a Type A EDC rooted in industrial and manufacturing, a transportation study to get roads ready for the retailers residents keep asking for, and a first year of wins that look more like community than ribbon cuttings. She also gets into why new homes keep drawing young families, the two Blinn College campuses landing by 2027, and the honest retail gap: nowhere to buy plates, towels, or school shoes.
