Psalm 52 Why boast in harm, you mighty one? Your lies have teeth, your day will come. You prize the blade, you trust deceit, And grind the truth beneath your feet. But mercy stands when power falls; The root still drinks beneath these walls. I am like an olive tree, Rooted where your lies can’t reach. I trust the love that will not leave, I praise the name that makes me free. Though you build your house on sand, I will stand within His hand. You love the words that wound and break, A sharpened tongue for goodness’ sake. But God will tear your shelter down, And pull your roots from stolen ground. The righteous see, and they will know: No wicked boast can overthrow. I am like an olive tree, Rooted where your lies can’t reach. I trust the love that will not leave, I praise the name that makes me free. Though you build your house on sand, I will stand within His hand. The Lord has seen; the Lord will act. The proud will learn the weight of that. I wait in hope; I will give thanks, For goodness blooms where fear once reigned. I am like an olive tree, Rooted where your lies can’t reach. I trust the love that will not leave, I praise the name that makes me free. In the house where mercy stands, I will flourish in His hands. I will wait. I will praise. Your love endures through all my days. All 150 Psalms:    • 150 Psalms
