Alaska does not have its own Poison Center, so when you call Alaska Poison Control with a question about a family member's ingestion of a household cleaner under the sink or medication overdose, a specialist in Kansas fields the call. This presentation by Elizabeth Silver, PharmD, DABAT, Managing Director of the Kansas Poison Center and Stefanie Baines, Education Coordinator for the Kansas Poison Center provides an overview of what the Poison Center does and highlights case studies of environmental exposures that resulted in poisonings the staff consulted on. This is part of the Fall 2026 Introduction to Environmental Health at the University of Alaska Anchorage, College of Health, Division of Population Health Sciences taught by Adjunct Faculty Mary A.
