Little Gorilla Aarde Stomps at Silverback Oumbi

Silverback Oumbi stays cool at Twycross Zoo while little Aarde causes gorilla drama, stomping around until Shufai steps in. When I got there first thing in the morning, Silverback Oumbi was sitting outside at Twycross Zoo. I always think of Biddy when he sits there, as it was one of Biddy's favourite places. The boys Shufai and Aarde were playing outside. Shufai tried to go inside, but Aarde had other ideas! Ozala came out and sat by the wall, minding her own business, though little Aarde was not helping the relationship between the two with his cheeky antics. You could see it on Ozala's face before she made her nest and went for a rest. Obviously, with Ozala not biting, Aarde went over to Oumbi and did his classic Aarde stomp right in front of him. Oumbi kept his cool like a absolute star. With no luck there, he went back to Shufai. Shufai took the bait and grabbed him, giving him a quick smell. As Shufai and Ozala came out, Asante, acting as Aarde's bodyguard, positioned herself closer to little Aarde. You could really feel the tension. No one wanted to look at anybody, apart from Aarde who kept moving round. Oumbi suddenly gave a grunt, and then I saw Ozala get up, charge down, and give Aarde a little push. Mum Shanga was in the picture now, with Ozala at the bottom of the hill. Shufai decided to do his stiff-legged walk. Shanga went inside and Shufai got close to Aarde, grabbing him and pulling him towards him. Shufai then started grooming Aarde's little back.
