High above the clouds at 5,100 meters (nearly 17,000ft,) La Rinconada is the highest inhabited place on Earth. Life here is a constant struggle, with only 50% of the oxygen found at sea level. This mine scorched land is as unforgiving as it is unique. Yet, around 50,000 people call this place home—living amidst piles of trash and constant danger.
