T. Narasipura Row Escalates

The T. Narasipura Row over a Ganesh procession has intensified, with Hindu organisations announcing preparations for a major Shobha Yatra in T. Narasipura on September 18. Reports say the procession is planned through the Link Road route, which has become the centre of the ongoing dispute. The T. Narasipura Row began after a video of Police Inspector Dhananjaya addressing organisers at a peace meeting went viral. Police said the procession should follow the permitted route and warned organisers about maintaining peace and avoiding actions that could create tension near a mosque. BJP leaders and Hindu organisations criticised the warning and demanded action against the inspector. The T. Narasipura Row has now moved beyond the initial police-versus-organisers dispute and has become a political issue. BJP leaders have held protests and demanded the inspector’s suspension, while the government has said police action should follow the relevant reports and procedures. The Karnataka Chief Minister has also directed police to remain alert amid the heightened tensions. According to reports, Hindu Jagarana Vedike has installed a Ganesha idol near the T. Narasipura police station and announced the September 18 procession.
