What If You Never Had to Sleep?
Eight extra hours every day. Almost 3,000 extra hours a year. Sounds like a superpower, right? In 1963, a 17-year-old named Randy Gardner stayed awake for 11 straight days, and what scientists saw happen to his mind changed how we think about sleep. Here's what really happens hour by hour, day by day, when your brain never gets to switch off, and why the hours you spend asleep were never wasted.
