Ep 97: Is Society Hell Bent on Hating Adult Women? - Exploring Infantilization

We're digging deep on a recent article in The Cut titled, Confessions of a recovering baby woman on the enduring fantasy of being "just a girl" - and how I finally decided to get a grip and grow up, by Shannon Keating. But first, we're yapping about 20 year old hair dryers, beauty products, and the science (or lack thereof) behind hyaluronic acid. Then we've got a circle back to our conversation about the online dialogue happening between single and married women and an idea to what could possibly be the origin of some of the defensiveness coming from married women and this idea ties nicely into a circle back to our review of Practical Magic. In our review of the movie we mentioned a quote from one of the Aunts in which she states that craving normalcy denotes a lack of courage and we have some expanded thoughts about that. Next, we're discussing a TikTok video and a recent episode of Untold Stories which both demonstrate how easy it is for people to consume the same content and walk away with completely different perspectives. Then, we're diving into a reality check to discuss the latest Bravo goings ons and during this segment we take a minute to reflect on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Then it's time to get in the weeds with our discussion about The Cut article. The article made some valid overarching points but failed to really get into the meat of the issue and we found her examples to be more representative of life as a young person in general rather than infantilization. There were some good jumping off points but we felt it left a little to be desired overall.
