Atlanta Teacher Dies After Terrifying Fall From Six Flags’ 200-Foot Goliath Coaster

On Monday, October 12, 2026, a 42-year-old man died after being thrown from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, northwest of Atlanta. Police say he was Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem of Atlanta. At about 3:58 p.m., officers working at the park found him beneath the ride, unresponsive and not breathing. Police say early information from witness and employee interviews shows he was ejected from the ride, struck other guests, and then fell beneath the attraction. Four other people were hurt, and officials have not said how seriously. Witnesses told reporters they saw him come out of his seat and hit the coaster before he fell. The next day, Six Flags temporarily closed nine similar roller coasters at six of its other parks as a precaution. Cobb County police, the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, and the ride’s manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard, are all investigating. In this video, we cover: What witnesses say they saw on the Goliath Who Hassan was, according to his family and Atlanta Public Schools What officials have said, and what they haven’t The nine closed rides The park’s earlier deaths, and how each one actually happened No cause has been announced.
