In this documentary-style episode, we explore the life, leadership, discipline, strategy, and sacrifice of Lachit Borphukan — the legendary Ahom commander who led Assam’s resistance against the mighty Mughal Empire. During the 17th century, when the Mughal Empire had expanded across large parts of the Indian subcontinent, Assam stood firm on the banks of the Brahmaputra. Under the leadership of Lachit Borphukan, the Ahom Kingdom prepared one of the most brilliant defensive campaigns in Indian military history. From the recapture of Guwahati and Itakhuli Fort to the painful lessons of the Battle of Alaboi, and finally the decisive Battle of Saraighat, this is the story of a commander who understood that wars are won long before the first arrow or cannon is fired — through preparation, discipline, logistics, intelligence, and leadership. Even while seriously ill, Lachit Borphukan refused to leave command. His presence on the battlefield changed the morale of the Ahom soldiers and turned the tide against the Mughal forces led by Raja Ram Singh. This is not just the story of one battle.
