Verse 1
I gather curious people like odd treasures on a shelf,
Then wonder what on earth they see that keeps them near myself.
I’ve lived inside a hundred worlds without departing from my chair,
And somehow brought back souvenirs from places never there.
I’ll vanish down a rabbit hole and surface after three,
With twelve new existential questions and a minor theory.
I’m drawn to all the crooked things that other people miss,
The tiny little fractures where the ordinary shifts.
I’m equally at home with wonder, nonsense and despair,
I’ll contemplate existence while forgetting why I’m there.
I’ve never met a mystery I didn’t want to know,
Then once I’ve found the answer, I’ll have seventeen more to go.
Chorus
Hello, my name is Rima, pleased to meet you!
I’m slightly hard to summarise, but this will have to do.
I’m equal parts peculiar and impossibly sincere,
I’ll wander off inside my head while standing very near.
I’ll find something extraordinary hiding in the everyday,
Then lose the bloody plot halfway through something I should say.
Hello, my name is Rima, I’m a curious design,
A little out of step with clocks, but mostly keeping time.
I haven’t quite decided what I’m doing here just yet,
But I’m collecting strange and lovely things until I get it.
Verse 2
I think in strange dimensions where the edges never meet,
Where beauty turns up barefoot in the middle of the street.
I’ll notice one small detail everybody else ignored,
Then build an entire universe and promptly get absorbed.
I’m prone to disappearing when the world becomes too loud,
Then re-emerging hours later from my private little cloud.
I need my own peculiar space to rearrange my brain,
Then I’ll return with something odd I struggle to explain.
I’m sentimental over things that shouldn’t mean a lot,
A scribbled little sentence or some treasure someone forgot.
I’ll laugh when things are terrible because the choice is cry,
Then wonder if we’re living or just learning how to die.
Chorus

Bridge
I’m fascinated, overwhelmed,
Half in this world, half somewhere else.
I’ll chase a thought beyond its end,
Then bring it home and call it friend.
I’ll see the funny in the grim,
The hidden edges tucked within.
And when the world feels far too plain,
I’ll tilt my head and look again.
Chorus

Outro
So here’s to being difficult to neatly understand,
To living somewhere sideways from the universe’s plan.
To finding little doorways where the walls should plainly be,
And keeping some small corner of the world for mystery.
I’m stranger than intended, but I’m rather fond of strange,
I’ve learned the best adventures start when certainty deranges.
I may never solve the question of precisely who I am,
But that’s all right. I’m Rima.
And apparently, that’s the plan.
