European Reacts to NASCAR Modified - Good Ol' Times

Turns out the oldest division in the sport was invented by rum runners who souped up 1930s Fords to outrun the cops during Prohibition. And I can't get over it. This is the story of NASCAR Modifieds, the Frankenstein cars that looked like "the illegitimate offspring of an IndyCar and a dune buggy." The first NASCAR race ever was a Modified race. They ran cars from every decade on the same track. Tech inspection had basically no rules. It was chaos, and I absolutely love it. I react on how Bill France built NASCAR off the back of this division, why the Modifieds became the proving ground for every innovation in stock car racing, and the legend of Richie Evans , the orange #61 who won nine championships and became the blueprint for the modern Modified.
