While I was staying in Izmir, Turkey, I decided to take a spontaneous day trip down the Aegean coastline toward the Urla municipality and the picturesque town of Çeşme, located at the very tip of the Çeşme Peninsula. I had heard so many good things about this area: colorful seaside villages, a relaxed coastal lifestyle, and architecture reflecting both Turkish and Greek influences. My original plan was to visit two towns that connect the cultures of Turkey and Greece, known for their pastel façades, narrow streets, and Mediterranean charm. But the journey turned out to be very different from what I expected. The route itself was so breathtaking that I couldn’t resist stopping the car every 10 minutes to take photographs. Every curve of the road revealed a new scene, fishing boats rocking in small harbors, lonely coastal roads, and quiet stone houses glowing under a cloudy sky. The weather wasn’t helping either. Gloomy, windy, and threatening to rain at any moment. That atmosphere got even heavier when I encountered a strange dog in one of the first villages. It ran toward my car the moment it saw it, as if it recognized me. It wagged its tail yet barked aggressively whenever I looked away, creating a mix of friendliness and tension that made me stay inside the car longer than planned. Still, the day and the weather turned into one of my most peaceful photography trips. Hardly any traffic, empty villages, and endless coastline. Perfect conditions to focus on composition and light. I drove for 10 minutes, stopped, photographed, and drove again, repeating this cycle for hours. However, the wind was so strong that it left me with a sore throat and a fever in the following days, cutting my time in Istanbul short. I’ll definitely have to return there to explore more. In the end, I captured some of my favorite seaside and landscape shots ever. One of them will soon be available as a print in my online shop. Visit in a couple of weeks if you’d like to own one of the photographs featured in this video. https://zperkowski.com https://zperkowski.com/product-page/n...
