ANDREW KWON's SS27 collection, SÉRAPHINE, unfolds as a meditation on femininity drawn from the natural world. Inspired by Nicolino Calyo's Arcadian Landscape, the collection explores beauty, movement, and mystery, where each silhouette echoes the quiet poetry of landscape itself, fluid, organic, and alive with a sense of wonder.
Shown on the runway at St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue, the collection came to life within a setting of serene grandeur. The historic space, with its soaring architecture and reverent stillness, framed the collection's exploration of nature and femininity, allowing each look to unfold with quiet, deliberate beauty.
This season’s collection translates meadows, still lakes, and shifting light into silhouettes that appear to float around the body. Fluid gowns and sculpted corsetry are balanced by sweeping trains, hooded drapes, cape-like sleeves, and cascading layers. Sheer panels and architectural cutouts reveal the body with subtle sensuality, while the contrast between closely fitted and expansive forms creates movement throughout the collection.
Nature emerges through dimensional flowers, delicate embroidery, lace, beading, and crystals trail asymmetrically across bodices, sleeves, and skirts, as though growing across the garments themselves. Airy, diaphanous gowns are contrasted by dark lace, precise construction, and richly embellished, body-skimming silhouettes.
The palette moves from warm champagne, blush, faded rose, celadon, and watery blue into violet and midnight blue. Atmospheric gradients recall the changing light of the landscape, while iridescent surfaces and crystal details catch the light like water and dew. Named for its celestial and distinctly feminine quality, SÉRAPHINE exists between romance and sensuality, the earthly and the otherworldly.
Elegant footwear by Stuart Weitzman completed each look, with jewelry by TACORI, hair by Joseph DiMaggio utilizing RICA Haircare and POMO styling tools with makeup by Ann Benjamas Liendo, and nails by Airi Yamada. The show was produced by Le Petite Prive.
