Can you really explore Tanguar Haor in just one day for only 1,500 BDT? In this vlog, I take you through my complete budget tour experience to one of the most beautiful wetlands in Bangladesh and break down every cost along the way. Our journey began in Dhaka, where we traveled by bus from Sayedabad to Kolmakanda Ghat with a travel group. After reaching the ghat, we checked into our reserved houseboat and started our adventure towards the famous Tanguar Haor Watch Tower. The views from the watch tower were absolutely breathtaking, offering a panoramic look at the vast haor landscape. From there, we continued to Tekerghat, Tahirpur, where we enjoyed lunch before renting a motorcycle to explore some of the most popular attractions in the area, including Niladri Lake, Shimul Bagan, Barik Tila, and a nearby waterfall. The package cost only 1,500 BDT and included round-trip bus transportation from Dhaka, a reserved average-quality houseboat, breakfast, and lunch. However, there were a few additional expenses during the tour. The watch tower required a short boat ride that cost 50 BDT per person. We also rented a motorcycle from Tekerghat to visit the surrounding attractions. Since two people shared one bike, the rental cost came to only 250 BDT per person. In addition, Shimul Bagan had an entry fee of 50 BDT, and there were two toll points costing a total of 40 BDT. Altogether, these extra expenses added approximately 320–350 BDT per person, bringing the total tour cost to around 1,850 BDT as of July 2026. So, is this tour worth it? In my opinion, absolutely. If you try to arrange the same trip independently, your transportation costs alone from Dhaka to Sunamganj and back can reach around 1,600 BDT. Once you add boat rental, meals, local transportation, and other expenses, the total cost can easily exceed 5,000–6,000 BDT. Considering everything included in this package, it offers incredible value for money and is one of the most affordable ways to experience the beauty of Tanguar Haor. Many travelers also wonder whether they should choose a premium houseboat tour instead. Premium tours usually offer air-conditioned cabins, comfortable beds, better food, overnight stays, and more luxurious facilities. However, when it comes to sightseeing, the experience is largely the same. You will visit the same attractions, travel through the same haor, and enjoy the same stunning scenery. If your main goal is exploring nature and experiencing Tanguar Haor without spending a fortune, I believe this budget tour is the better choice for most travelers. Premium houseboat tours are ideal for couples or those looking for a more luxurious experience, while this budget package is perfect for adventure lovers and budget-conscious travelers.
