Gerald Eze's #Oja solo leads The Orchestra of Tansi College, Awka on Highlife Medley

This performance explores the roots of #Afrobeats and shows the more possibilities that can happen in the future. Gerald Eze is the founder and creative director of Ichoku Academy, a music academy that brings music education to families and schools in Awka. In this video, he demonstrates to the students how oja can take solo role in an orchestral arrangement of Western and African musical instruments, set to highlife music style. The Igbo culture just like all African cultures is dynamic, and this is one of the many way Gerald Eze and the Ichoku Academy have shown new interpretations of Igbo music both in education and entertainment. The Ichoku Academy is now working towards setting up a new original orchestra project in the spirit of The New Times. #Africa #Orchestramusic #Highlife #Music #GEM #Afrobeats
